I blogged (almost) continually from 2008 - 2021 but the time was right to give it all up at the end of last year.
However I never gave up my love of the blogging world: it is where I have met some wonderful people who are now real friends - I will never forget how many of those friends held me up in my darkest days, and it is where I have learned so much. I missed it. I missed being an active part of a lovely community.
But I had had enough of sharing the endless work renovating this house and creating a garden, it really was time to stop.
Since then my Blogger Profile said:
I'm still here, but I have lost any desire to blog. Shame really, because since
2008 sharing the house, the garden, the dogs, the fabric and goodness knows what
else gave me such pleasure, created some wonderful connections.
But since Daisy's death, followed by Covid I just have not had the heart for it. I had
thought I might start up again, until Putin decided to start a war with Europe.
Best I just keep my head down for a while, and visit with - and comment on -
everyone else's.
I need to rewrite it ð
I still miss my darling Daisy-dog more than is probably healthy (so do not be surprised if much loved pictures of her appear in seemingly random places without warning ð ðĪ ðū), I still cannot believe that more has not been done to halt Putin's attack on all of us (not just Ukraine) and don't get me started on bloody politicians and their inability to fix anything closer to home either. The wonderfully articulate wordsmith Shanna Trenholm recently gifted me with the most perfect description for those upon whom I heap derision: megalomaniac narcissistic authoritarians.
But I digress and life has to move on. If I am not prepared to take the occasional risk, try new things, maybe change a little then I might as well just settle down in front of the fire with a good book, a rug over my knees and never move again.
Nothing is forever, even if at the time of making a commitment you think it might be. There are a few changes around here and I am ready to start blogging again to both create a record for myself and share some of my next adventure with those of you kind enough to stop by.
I honestly cannot say whether this will be a long-term project, or if it will fizzle out after a few months, but for now, here is a taster of what is to come (as if the blog title was not enough of a clue!)
Well done Jayne, I'll be reading with interest. Put a Followers button on please.
ReplyDeleteMorning Sooze! Thanks for joining my latest mad adventure.
DeleteCan't keep a good blogger down! So looking forward to post where you regale us with tales of your adVANtures with an avid audience!! xxxx
ReplyDeleteWelcome, lovely girl ð ð, I am looking forward to telling you about sitting on the upstairs bed, with the canvas opened, taking adVANtage of the view - just a shame you cannot join me. ðĪĢ ð ðĪŠ
DeleteI'm so happy to see this, and I can't wait to read about your next adventure. Xx
ReplyDeleteThank you Jules. Sitting on my hands, impatiently counting down the days until she is parked outside.
DeleteBrilliant, it's about time you had an adVANture again ... and more importantly SHARED it with us. She's a good colour, now don't be mean where's the rest of her?
ReplyDeleteOh and we would be hurt and surprised if photos of Daisy-dog did not randomly appear to warm our hearts and make us smile.
Thanks Sue, not just "the rest of her" but all of her is still parked up at the dealer until a week next Monday. Sigh . . .
DeleteShe will be my only vehicle in future so there is the theoretical possibility that every trip out, even popping into Aldi, could become an adVANture ð
My sweet - it is lovely to see you back and if Dear Daisy Dog were to make an appearance it would certainly make me smile - I look forward to seeing your adVANtures and wonder if your small van has a name yet! xxx
ReplyDeleteThank you lovely girl. Small van is semi-inonimate although there are ideas. I am sure once we are together she will let me know what she would like to be called. ð
DeleteHer name will come and you will have some lovely van-times - I love the freedom that 'van-life' can offer - enjoy xxx
DeleteSorry I'm late to the party with my comment. So happy to see you blogging again Jayne and I look forward to reading about your big adventures in your new small van? Lovely photo of Daisy and I don't mind at all seeing more random photos of your beautiful Miss Daisy dog xx
ReplyDeleteMorning Eileen, don't you ever apologise to me, xxxx The concensus definitely seems to be that is absolutely right for Daisy to pop in now and again to check we are all behaving! ðū ð ð
DeleteLovely to see you starting a new adventure. I was just thinking last week that you'd been quiet lately. Looking forward to seeing your new adventure-mobile! xx
ReplyDeleteWelcome Debbie, how lovely to have you here with me. x
DeleteNew wheels, new blog, new adventures, looking forward to following along. And it wouldn't be your blog without the beautiful Daisy popping up, would it. Gorgeous girl.
ReplyDeleteAww, thank you so much Jo. I do so appreciate you (and all our other friends) having made the effort to come and see what I am up to, xxx
DeleteI hope to share your adventures with you. I suspect you have a lot of interest to offer.
ReplyDeleteThank you Graham, I think there is a moderate chance that you might get to ~really~ share this new adventure because there is far more chance of my making it to the Western Isles in this van than the previous one ð
DeleteWell, you just know that I'm nodding and smiling and even sort of chuckling as we traverse a parallel moonbeam. So glad you're writing again -- you've been missed -- though I know that you know that I know. xoxo
ReplyDeleteHello gorgeous girl, xx I kept thinking of you and wondering if it was worth emailing (because if you were still on the almost total digital detox then how would you get my message ðĪŠ ? ) You are missed too but I am glad there is sufficient room on that moonbeam for us both. ð
DeleteLook forward to reading all about your forthcoming adventures, obvs any pics of Daisy would be lovely too! My brother in law has run a business in Devon for 30+ years converting VW roofs to elevating ones - I love VWs!
ReplyDeleteHello Mrs! Welcome back - I don't know how you found me but I am very glad you did. It would seem the general consensus is that it is quite acceptable for Daisy to pop in every now again to check we are behaving ðū ð
Delete(PS: please do not tell Bill, but I have hankered after a VW for years!)
Lovely to see you blogging again. Look forward to seeing where you go on your travels
ReplyDeleteSue, welcome. I am sorry this comment has taken so long to appear - I'd no idea Blogger had put you in the Spam box (along with the two below). Ludicrous - you are all the least spam-like visitors I can imagine!
DeleteLovely to see you blogging again Jayne. Hope you are keeping well.
ReplyDeleteEleanor, thank you. In the 'great scheme of things' and the madness which is our little planet in the early 21st century I would say I am doing pretty well. Hope things are still good with you.
DeleteThanks for starting again. Daisy will always be welcome here. It is tough to lose a fur baby, they stay with you forever. Hugs.
ReplyDeleteNo Marjorie - thank YOU. I will do my best not to turn this into another Daisy-blog but she'll pop in every now and again. ðĪŠ
